The R-100 shrink sleever is suitable for moderate speed applications from 30 to 100 round and non-round containers per minute. One customer application is for a sleeved, innovative EVOO-dispensing bottle.
Adapting the design found in PDC Intl.'s higher speed R-Series shrink sleeve labelers, the R-100 shrink sleever is suitable for moderate speed applications from 30 to 100 containers per minute. In addition to round containers, the machine can apply oriented sleeves onto non-round containers such as ovals and squares. System can also bundle products into sleeved twin packs. Product handling options include a metering wheel, and single or dual timing screws.
Key standard features:
Rather than the spinning blade cutters found on competitive machines, the R-100 also uses PDC's long-life blade assembly;
It uses a standard sensor verification package that has options to identify downstream jams, fallen bottles and other faults; and
Tool-less changeover permits fast adjustments.
The system is controlled by an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1400 PLC from Rockwell Automation.
One of the first customer applications that was shown at Pack Expo in Chicago in November was for an innovative, atypical container: Gavora Naturals 100% certified organic extra virgin olive oil from Italy. The EVOO is filled into in aluminum dispensing bottles contract packaged by B.O.V. Solutions, Lecanto, FL.
What is unusual is that the container, per sleeve-label copy and graphics, does not spray the product, but pointedly dispenses the EVOO instead as seen in the above graphic found at the vendor's website. The eco-friendly, 4-layer pouch system dispenses the oil as drops or a stream depending on the finger pressure applied by the user. It does this without the use of pressurized water or other propellants.
The shrink sleeve extends over the bottle's overcap to also provide tamper-evidence, PDC Intl. pointed out.
